Activist Boniface Mwangi is in custody at Pangani Police Station as he awaits arraignment to court over terrorism charges during the anniversary of the June 25 protest in Kenya.
The activist is accused of being the mastermind and facilitator of terrorism activities during the protest.
2 mobile phones ,a laptop and several books are some of the items that detectives seized when Mwangi was arrested at his home in Lukenya,Machakos County on Saturday July 19,2025.
After his arrest ,activist Mwangi was taken to his office in Hurlingham where tear gas cannisters among other notable items were recovered after a thorough search according to Directorate of Criminal Investigations post on Facebook.
“Nine assorted external hard drives, two laptops, company seals for Brave Media Ltd and Courage Ltd, a company stamp, six cheque books, copies of stamp duty documents, two unused tear gas canisters and one 7.62mm blank round,” read part of the post.
Mwangi will be presented to court on Monday, July 21, 2025, and will be facing two possible charges; facilitation of terrorist acts and unlawful possession of ammunition.
After the July 25 protest,many arrests were made and some suspects were charged with terrorism charges.
