Written by Vincent Ombati

‎A bizarre incident shocked officers at Makupa Police Station after a suspect, instead of speaking, began mimicking animal sounds—bleating like a goat and clucking like a hen.

Baraka Joseph from Nairobi, had reportedly confessed earlier to stealing two goats and two hens from a man believed to be of Kamba origin. After selling the animals, he fled to Mombasa.

According to Occurrence Book, Baraka lost his ability to speak and instead began producing strange animal-like sounds when he arrived in Mombasa. This is despite having no issues talking during his travel from Nairobi.

“He had been found within Majengo sokoni communicating through writing that he stole two goats and two chickens on 20/4/2025 from a home of a kamba person and sold them for 3000/= and 1000/= he left Nairobi and boarded a bus to Mombasa on 4/6/2025 while normal talking but on reaching at Mombasa he lost his normal voice and started to immitate the goats and chicken he stole.”

Baraka was seeking help to be returned to Nairobi ,confess his sins to the owner and ask for forgiveness.

‎One officer described the moment as “creepy but hilarious,” while others feared spiritual possession or mental breakdown.

‎The 16 year old is hospitalized at the Coast General Hospital, where he is currently in medical and psychological evaluation.
