Babu Owino free to contest for Nairobi gubernatorial seat

Embakasi MP Babu Owino is free to contest in any elective seats using the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) this is according to the latest sentiments from ODM chairperson and Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga.

The Homa Bay Governor was clarifying the issue of ODM party leader Raila Odinga leaving Nairobi city politics affairs under Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

“No one can deny Babu to contest for any seat in the party. What Raila said is that he wanted Nairobi to remain strong and be run well.”

Wanga said Raila Odinga’s move had nothing to do with 2027 polls but his short stay in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he is seeking to become the next African Union Commission.

Wanga confirms the 2027 generation election will be fair and there will be a fair for everyone who has interest in contesting.

“Everyone who will be interested in the gubernatorial seat will present themselves and a party primary will be done to pick the candidate that the residents want.”
