A clinical officer, Eric Langat, also known as Kirinyet, has been arrested for allegedly raping a pregnant woman at Chemaner Health Center in Bomet County.
Langat allegedly committed the act during a routine medical checkup. His actions were discovered after the victim screamed for help, prompting staff and other patients to rush to the room.
The suspect, who was caught in a compromising situation, fled the scene.
The incident was reported at Chemaner Police Station, where a manhunt was launched. Police successfully apprehended the suspect.
Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa confirmed that investigations have begun and that the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
The victim is undergoing medical examination and counseling at Longisa County Referral Hospital.
