A hot debate is making circles around the internet after details about a KSH 1.2 billion mega church that is under construction at State House, Nairobi were made public.
President William Ruto would later confirm the news about the state house church when he hosted a delegation of leaders from Embu County at Stage House on Thursday.
The head is the state said indeed he is constructing the house of God with his own money and that there is no taxpayers money is being used even a cent.
“It is true. I am building a church at State House. Here, I came and found a church built on iron sheets. In your view, does such a church match the standards of State House?”
Ruto went on to say he was unapologetic for his move. As a person who truly believes in God,he won’t seek any permission to construct a church.
Anglican Church Arch Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit questioned who will be the leader of the church Ruto is constructing at the State House. Adding that a church is a sanctuary to worship God which should be set aside from unholy use.
“When you have a church at State House, which Kingdom does it represent?”
The president has defended building a church saying it is the best thing to do. That he can’t live in a good residence while the Church of God is now well built.
“The cost of building a church for 300 families can’t amount to more than KSH 1 billion. The cost is exxagerated”
Ruto added that he never started the construction of the church because he is giving a new face to an already built church that is already in ruins.
