Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has changed his tune about working with opposition leader Raila Odinga. Despite the DP having a strong opinion about Raila,his boss, President William Ruto’s move proved otherwise.
Rigathi said he had to dance towards Ruto’s tune though he had his reservation.
“Only a fool who doesn’t change his mind.“
The self-proclaimed son of Mau Mau during an interview with Citizen Tv said Ruto’s convincing tactics saw him change his mindset into working with the ODM party leader.
The second in command revealed that the fourth president of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta asked the Mount Kenya voters to support Raila Odinga but they disagreed. They opted to follow Ruto’s advice.
“William Ruto persuaded us that if we allowed Raila Odinga, Kenya would not move forward.”
Gachagua says along the way, William Ruto changed his mind on what they agreed when they took government,not to work with Raila Odinga at all.
“When I realized my boss started having conversations with Raila, I relaxed and stopped attacking the opposition leader. “
He says that when Raila joined the Kenya Kwanza government, Gachagua had long made up his mind.
“If two sitting presidents, (William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta) who am I to say the contrary opinion. “
During the formation of the bread based government, William Ruto nominates four top and close allies of Raila Odinga in his government. They were later vetted by parliament and appointment in their respective docket.
