Kenyans will now be able to replace their National Identity Cards (IDs) and change their personal particulars for free, following a six-month waiver announced by the government.
The special gazette notice waiving these fees is a direct result of President William Samoei Ruto’s directive to ensure every Kenyan can acquire this crucial document.
The waiver means first-time ID applicants will receive the document at no cost. Furthermore, other reforms have been implemented, including the abolition of extra vetting requirements previously imposed on applicants from border counties.
