KCSE Candidate rushed to hospital after collapsing

A candidate from Sironga Girls in Nyamira was rushed to hospital after collapsing following an assault from Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KNECK) quality assurance officer, Beatrice Kendi.

The student is said to be slapped by the national exams quality assurance officer after being found with unauthorized material.

According to a preliminary police report, Kendi entered the examination room around 9 am for normal inspection and noticed the student chewing something in her mouth. Efforts to retrieve what the student was chewing were unsuccessful. She decided to force the student to spit what she was chewing by slapping her severally.

After the morning examination session was over at 10am, the student collapsed and was rushed to the school dispensary where first aid was performed and she gained her conscious.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now investigating the whole saga that has got national attention.

The incident comes days after another horrible incident happened in Sironga Girls. A form-four student jumped from the second floor of their dormitory and tragically lost her life.
