After opposition leader Raila Odinga faced hostility in his perceived backyard Kisii County on Sunday, various elected leaders drawn from both government, opposition and other state entities drawn from Gusii land converged to air their grievances as a tribe. The leaders burnt the midnight oil scratching their heads trying to come into an unanimous conclusion on which route they will take as a community.
Led by Minority Whip and South Mugirango Member of Parliament, Silvanus Osoro, the Kisii tribe wanted to be recognized as independent community who are within Nyanza region. Osoro insisted that Nyanza region has other counties like Kisii and Nyamira who are often overlooked when it comes to national interest. He added that the Abagusii and Kuria people deserve to get a piece of the national cake that Raila Odinga is set to benefit from after signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with President William Ruto.
Kisii Senator Richard Onyoka who is a vibrant critic of Kenya Kwanza government distanced himself from the riots that were witnessed at Gusii Stadium during the launch of Shabana FC kits an occasion that was graced by Odinga.
