Kisii Murder Suspect Arraigned In Court

Murder suspect Nelson Momanyi Ontita was arraignened in Ogembo Law Court,Kisii County. The middle-aged man from Nyamache sub-county in Kisii County was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his two daughters.

Magistrate Calestous Sindani granted the prosecutor 10 days to conclude their investigation and for an autopsy to be done on the deceased bodies. Momanyi is to remain behind bars at Nyangoso police station.

The two bodies of the slain children, Shantel and Gloria, were found lying on their family maize farm on Friday last week in Kiobegi village. The residents alerted the police after discovering the mutilated bodies. The machete used to commit the gruesome murder was found at the scene of the crime by the detectives from Kiobegi police station in Bobasi Constituency.

Momanyi is said to have sent his three older sons to some errands before leading his two daughters to the family farm where they met their untimely death. Nyamweya Nyamwari, a resident of Kiobegi, alleges that Momanyi has a mental condition and was recently discharged from a mental facility. “The guy has a mental issue and I cannot ascertain if he has fully recovered,” said Nyamweya. The bodies will continue to be preserved at Nyamache Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

The case hearing is scheduled for January 23rd,2023.
