Raila Odinga clarifies AUC campaign budget

‎Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has come out to set the records straight about the amount of cash that Kenya used to facilitate his bid Africa Union Commission chairperson position. Raila claims the figures peddled online are ridiculous and untrue.

‎ “I heard some people say that the government spent Ksh13 billion on my AUC campaign. I don’t know what world those guys live in and whether they know what a billion is,” Raila said.

‎Raila Odinga campaign budget was speculated online and the correct figures were not shared online.

‎Shielding President William Ruto,Raila Odinga said the idea of seeking the AUC Chair seat was a personal decision. The President came into the picture later and promised to support.

“I am grateful to President Ruto for standing by me. He never asked me to run. I announced myself that I was going to run for the AUC Chair seat and Ruto only came after I had made that announcement to support my candidature,” Raila said.

After losing the seat to Djibouti’s candidate Mohamed Ali Yossuf, Raila Odinga is in consultation and will give a way forward to his supporters soon.

‎“I am available to help the continent of Africa but more importantly, I am also  available for Kenya. I will consult widely and in due course announce the way forward shortly. Watch this space, I will be talking again.”
