City car dealer Joseph Kairu Wambui alias Khalif Kairo has been released on a KSH 2 million after spending a night behind bars
Kairo who was arrested on Monday, was charged with cheating contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) , Kairo under his company’s bank account received KSH 2,984,998 on 29th July 2024 from Dona Ayolo Okoth to help her purchase a Subaru Outback .
Additionally,Kairo is facing other charges of obtaining KSH 2,145,150 through his company from Jeff Kyule Munane to help him import Honda Vezel Hybrid from Japan. According to Munane,Kairo never delivered the vehicle.
Kairo pleaded not guilty to all the charges before Chief Magistrate Hon. Lucas Onyina on Monday where he was denied bail on grounds that he was a flight risk and may abscond court.
