When Kelvin Kiptum’s death news broke on 12th February 2023,only one name stood out, Eliud Kipchoge.
The two time Olympic champion was accused of being involved in the untimely death of the young marathoner. Kiptum’s new world record had just been ratified days before being involved in a road accident that claimed his life and that of his Rwandan coach.
“I was shocked to see people online saying I was involved in his(Kevin Kiptum) death, ” disclosed Kipchoge.
During an emotionally filled interview with BBC News, the legendary marathoner said that was his worst news. Kipchoge revealed that some people wanted to burn down his house and bring into ashes his investments.
The allegations not only saw him lose all of his friends but the constant trolls online also affected Eliud Kipchoge’s performance. He lost the subsequent Tokyo marathon and became 10th.
“When I lost, I couldn’t sleep for three days,” Kipchoge added.
The whole saga has led Eliud Kipchoge not to trust anyone.
