The family of Boniface Kariuki Mwangi have confirmed the passing on of the mask vendor who was shot at close range during the Gen Z anniversary protest on 25 June ,
This is after exactly one day when the doctors attending to Mwangi informed the family of Kariuki to be brain dead. This news that was passed during the dead of the night to his father was just preparing the family psychollogically of what was expected to happen next.
When a person is termed brain dead, it is legally confirming that person is dead.
All eyes are now on the government reaction to this unfortunate unfolding. Will the family find the justice that it is seeking? Who will offset the bill that has amounted to more than KSH 3 million?
The Kenyatta National Hospital had conducted a successful surgery on Mwangi and they were closely monitoring him despite his condition being critical.
Several top government officials made trips to see Kariuki at his ward at KNH. Among them included Muranga Governor Irungu Kang’ata and President William Ruto senior economic advisor Moses Kuria.
