President William Ruto was a happy soul on Tuesday, 20th May 2025, when he officiated the handing over keys to 1080 new home owners in Mukuru courtesy of affordable housing.
The President who led the overjoyed affordable housing beneficiaries with prayers and praise songs, said the project is part of his presidential campaign .
Adressising the new home owners,Ruto said that elevating someone from slum to an estate is a buttom up reality.
“Today is one of the most consequential days of my political career, that I can hand over keys to people who would otherwise have never had a chance in life,” President Ruto said.
“You are happy but I am the happiest amongst all of you.”
Ruto promised that before the year ends, he will be handing over keys to over five thousand home owners.
The head of state urged Kenyans to believe that it is possible to transform slums in a Kenya to estates where Kenyans will live with the dignity they deserve.
“We have 200 more sites in Kenya ,where affordable housing is taking place.”
The New Mukuru Housing Estate is the first phase of the project whose climax is to construct 13,428 housing units in the Estate.
The affordable housing project which is funded by tax payers money was President William Ruto’s plan of constructing dignified houses especially in informal settlements.
New home owners in Mukuru New Estate will enjoy a rent-to-own payment plan starting from Ksh 3,900/month over 30 years, culminating in full ownership of their apartments.
