First Narok County Women representative Roselinda Soipan Tuya has been nominated by President William Ruto as cabinet secretary of Environment and forestry. Tuya replaces fellow tribesmen in the docket, outgoing CS Keriako Tobiko who hails from Kajiado. She becomes the first Maa woman in Kenyan history to join the cabinet.
Hon. Soipan Tuya is a politician of good fortune considering that in 2013, She was picked from an NGO and elected as a women representative. When Patricia Parsitau died two months before the election, she wore the political shoe of the deceased and inherited her followers.
After being nominated and sworn in as a senator, President William Ruto named her yesterday as cabinet secretary of the Environment in his government. She is one of the seven women nominated as members of the cabinet out of the 22 positions.
Hon. Tuya is the daughter of former Narok South MP, Samson Ole Tuya. Her mother was a councilor in Narok County Council.
