Kisii governor Simba Arati has said that the set up of a Medical City in the county is on course. The facility is being established under the Kenya UK Health Alliance and the Sustainable Urban Economic Development programs.
Arati says the Medical City will be a crucial facility in the Lake Region Bloc. It will help train the healthcare workforce. In addition, the facility will support medical schools. The main beneficiaries are Kisii University, Maseno University, Masinde Muliro University and Egerton University.
The National Government led by the President pledged support for this project during a meeting between the Kisii County, UK Health Alliance delegation, and the National Government at State House, Nairobi.
On November 20, the governor held a meeting with
a delegation from the UK on the construction of a thousand-bed capacity hospital at Nyosia.
