Election That Registered Low Voter Turnout

2022 general elections were anticipated to draw a large number of voters. However, contrary to the expectations of IEBC the numbers were not promising. As of noon, the IEBC noted only 30.65% while by 4 pm the turnout was 56.17% of the 22,120,458 voters. In 2013 the turnout was 85.91% while in 2017 the turnout was 78%

The voter turnout was low almost everywhere in the country. The Mount Kenya region which accounts for more than 4 Million votes performed not so well. Kieni Mp Hon. Kanini Kega after voting did observe this. On the contrary, Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua observed otherwise. According to the Kenya Kwanza deputy presidential candidate, the turnout was good. Sentiments that were echoed by Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro.
