Kenya prepares to host World Kiswahili Day

Jumwa who inaugurated the 17 members in her office on Wednesday said it was paramount to form a committee that will plan the whole event. 

Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, The Arts and Heritage Aisha Jumwa has unveiled an organizing committee for the World Kiswahili Day.
Jumwa who inaugurated the 17 members in her office on Wednesday said it was paramount to form a committee that will plan the whole event.
“The East African Community Central Council proposed Kenya to host this year’s celebration celebrations and because the event falls under my ministry we suggested we form a committee to organize the event,” said Jumwa.
The preliminary task of the committee was to choose the venue of the event. Jumwa suggested the venue be held in the coastal region.
Members from the East Africa community will be represented if will be held on 7th July this year.
UNESCO declared World Kiswahili Day in November 2021 during its 41st member-state meeting in Paris, France.
