Malala urges Governors to abolish the office of their spouses

Written by Vincent Ombati

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary General Cleophas Malala has urged governors to scrap the budget for their first ladies.

Speaking in Kakamega, the former senator has called governors to follow the president’s suit in doing away with their spouse’s cash kitty. This will help Counties to reduce the burden of excessive expenditures.

“The president has said he wants to cut the budget and he is starting with his office, “said Malala.

Malala call came days after President William Ruto promised to do away with the First Lady’s Rachel Ruto budget. This is a measure of cutting spending in government.

Other spouse offices that were affected in the new directive are those of Dorcas Rigathi and Tessy Mudavadi.
